Miracle of God’s Help to Help My Dad

From Actress Susan Chambers (played Young Tanya’s Mom in Soul Survivors: Angels-in-Training)

I was helping my dad with a roofing job at his house because he had no money to have someone else fix it. I asked, “Please, God, help me! I don’t know how I’ll ever get this done!” I was at the home-improvement store getting supplies when a man came up to me and asked if he could help me. He said “I own a roofing company.” and I said, “I have no money.” He said, “No problem, we will come and help you for free!” Since I didn’t know this man, I was kind of scared, but accepted his gracious offer. It would be a miracle if he truly could help us!

The next day a truckload of Latino men showed up at our house. I felt like they were angels! Their help was so appreciated and much needed.

Casting By God

Having never produced a TV show, other than helping produce my author interviews from time to time, I was appalled to get the inner message that I also had to do the casting! I felt like I knew why: God was asking me to be the person to get out of the way and listen to what was needed for these special roles, particularly the angels.

So, even though my producer and director likely thought I was crazy (or they know so by now!), I charged forward. Calling schools and film associations, searching the internet and asking friends, including some of the actors I cast first, I found an amazing group of spiritually-minded, open-hearted, loving Souls ready to leap at the chance to act something so fresh and clean.

One more miracle: Even though I didn’t do auditions (I just knew by talking with them and watching a bit of film of the main characters), the producer and director felt it was really well-cast!

An Angel On the Set

While shooting a scene outdoors at a mini-mansion for Soul Survivors TV movie, we began to hear one of the three worst sounds you can have to interfere with sound tech: a lawnmower! What could I do? I ran next door, to where a sweet Hispanic gentleman was cutting the lawn and offered him $20 to stop for just 10 minutes. It was a miracle I even remembered enough high school Spanish to communicate!

Then, when we were done, I ran over and offered him the $20. He wouldn’t take it!!

I could not believe it. He had been standing there, stock still, like a sentinel, while we were shooting. I thanked him and told him in Spanish that this project was spiritual, for God. He nodded, smiling, as if to say, “Of course, I knew that!” I’m very sure he was an angel sent to watch over us while we were shooting.

Children’s Promise of Love

From my neighbor, Joyce, who let us use her beautiful garden for a scene in Soul Survivors (Lexie’s Step-Dad’s House):

My mother had 18 children, and when she died, she made us promise her to do everything we could to keep my Dad out of a nursing home. And we’ve done it! He lives in an apartment where his children (one of them is 80 years old!) take turns staying with him, cooking and caring for him and rotate every 24 hours!

Angels In the Army

From an actor who had been in the Army (sorry, I lost his name):

I was stationed in Afghanistan and my buddies and I were just hanging around. I started walking toward the other end of the building we were in, where they were doing some laundry. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder, holding me back. Just then the roof caved in from an explosion, right in front of where I was standing, right where I would have been killed if not for the hand on my shoulder!

I looked back at my buddies, too far away, but still, I thanked them and asked who had held me back, but they all denied doing anything. There was no time, and they were still sitting where they had been, in shock. I knew then that it was an angel who saved me.

The Goggles Miracle

From Ashley Melsness, actress, 12 years old:

My friends grandpa worked at a factory, so he had to wear safety goggles. One day after work he was driving home but forgot to take his goggles off. That day when he was driving home he got into a car crash. His windshield shattered ,but he was still wearing his goggles so his eyes were protected. I believe that was a miracle and that God saved him.

Our Actress, Timotha Lanae’s CD, Red, is Now #1 in the U.K.!

One of our stars, Timotha Lanae, also a recording artist, found out on the last day of shooting her scenes that she was nominated for New Soul Artist of the Year in the U.K. via, believe it or not, an organization called Soul Survivors Music Awards. And of course, your know our TV show has the same name. Amazing, right? Now her CD, Red, is number one on the charts there! Even more amazing. We knew absolutely nothing of her singing, recording careen before I cast her for the role of Tory in the Soul Survivors Pilot. Timotha was interested in this project because it has a spiritual base and her heart is so open, she was a sweet, lovely person to work with, as famous as she is!
